Rule 35:
Washington State University expects students to maintain academic standards of excellence and make satisfactory academic progress toward their degree objectives. Undergraduate students are in good academic standing if both their current WSU semester and cumulative grade point averages are 2.00 or above. Students not meeting the criteria above are considered academically deficient.
REINSTATEMENT PROCESS
1. Check grades on My.WSU
2. Read the message sent by SALC to your My.WSU portal page. This message identifies the regulation under which you are deficient.
Rule 38:
First semester with below a 2.0 semester or cumulative gpa
- Complete an application for reinstatement and a personal statement.
- Students who are deficient under Rule 38 who apply for reinstatement will be required to return to campus prior to the new semester for a reinstatement interview.
- Mail or deliver your application, personal statement and payment to SALC prior to 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

To be considered for reinstatement your complete packet must be received at SALC by:

June 30 for students enrolled in spring 2008.

July 31 for former students returning.

You must document attendance in any summer school courses, whether at WSU or another institution.

Grades earned in summer school will be reviewed and the reinstatement decision can be reversed if conditions regarding summer grades are not met.

- Course enrollment for fall semester will be cancelled if an application for reinstatement has not been received and approved by the deadline.
Rule 39 with a 2.0 or better semester gpa:
Any two semesters with below a 2.0 cumulative gpa but above a 2.0 semester gpa
- Students with above a 2.0 gpa for the semester are encouraged to apply for reinstatement.
- Complete an application and a personal statement.
- Mail or deliver your application to SALC prior to 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

- As outlined in Rule 40, there will not be an opportunity for students to present their case in person.
- Course enrollment for fall semester will be cancelled if an application for reinstatement has not been received and approved by the deadline.
Rule 39:
Any two semesters with below a 2.0 semester or cumulative gpa.
- Students are dismissed and courses for fall semester will be cancelled.
- Students who are dismissed are required to remain out of WSU for at least one academic year.
- A student with unusual extenuating circumstances may apply to be considered for early reinstatement. Complete an application and personal statement. Mail or deliver your application to SALC prior to 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

Rule 37:
Two consecutive semesters with below a 2.0 semester gpa.
- Students were dismissed.
- Students who are dismissed are required to remain out of WSU for at least one academic year.
- A student with unusual extenuating circumstances may apply to be considered for early reinstatement.
- Complete an application. Mail or deliver your application to SALC prior to 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

All reinstatement applications must include payment: $50.00 for first application; $75.00 for second or subsequent applications. You may submit a check or money-order with your application and personal statement.
